As part of the Digital Communities TEC-UAI series: Convergences from Communication and Journalism, between the School of Communication and Journalism UAI and the Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico), two instructors from our course Educating in the Digital Age, Luis E. Santana and Carlos Franco, will take part in the Panel Discussion on Digital Citizenship and Fact-Checking, from UAI. Meanwhile, professors Connie Castillo and Martín del Campo will represent the TEC. They will discuss how digital citizenship and fact-checking play a crucial role in building an informed and empowered society.
Students from Mexico and Chile will participate simultaneously in this event, joining the discussion on the vital intersections between technology, information, and responsible citizenship. Experts in the field, from the School of Communication and Journalism UAI in Chile and from Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico, will analyze key topics such as the proliferation of online misinformation, the importance of fact-checking in the digital age, and how each individual can contribute to a more informed and engaged online community. In a world flooded with information, the ability to discern between fact and fiction becomes essential for making informed decisions.
The event will take place in the auditorium of Building E at the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez premises in Peñalolén, on Thursday, August 31st at 2 p.m., with a connection to the TEC.
